A. Michele helps make Selby & Snelling St. Paul’s hottest shopping district

A. Michele Boutique
In 2006, Amy Michelle Mullen set out to create her own boutique, styled after her love for all things romantic and vintage, with a dash of rock ‘n roll flair. Two years later, her dream became a reality when she opened the doors to her quaint, feminine shop A. Michele at Selby and Snelling, cementing that intersection’s reputation for being one of the city’s best shopping locales. Her shop carries a mix of feminine fashions, including Ruby Pearl slip dresses (which are made from vintage slips and silk scarves), fitted jackets, silk blouses, jewelry, oversized bags, gifts and more.

One of the most exciting recent additions to A. Michele’s lines include locally-made jewelry from Madame Owl by Desiree Forget. After selling her debut line of necklaces, earrings and bracelets on etsy since last year, A. Michele is the first shop to carry the line (apart from Cliché in Minneapolis, which also just starte carrying the line). The collection, which retails for $25 to $65, puts a modern, bold spin using a mix of vintage baubles that have a distinctly Victorian feel.

Next Tuesday, A. Michele is hosting a “Shoptail” after hours shopping party. Grab your girlfriends for wine, snacks and dessert, plus 10 percent off regular-priced items, 40 to 50 percent off jewelry, and the $30 sale rack. (6-9 p.m. Tue. 1591 Selby Ave., St. Paul. 651-917-6966.)

Phenom Global
There are a slew of other shops at Snelling & Selby helping making it the hottest shopping intersection in the Twin Cities. For vintage, there’s Lula’s Vintage Wear, arguably the best vintage store in the Twin Cities. Up Six Vintage offers a great mix of vintage clothing and mid-century furniture and the relatively-new Go Vintage is another must-shop. Locally-owned resale shop Everyday People sell a wearable mix of vintage and mid-range designer resale at ultra-low price points. Lacy upscale lingerie shop Flirt, newly located from Grand Avenue. Phenom Global, formerly 6 Twelve Premium, is a men’s sneaker shop geared toward the true sneaker head. For gifts, swing by Patina’s newly-opened second St. Paul location right on the corner.

Cosmic's Coffee Bar
If you need a coffee break, your options include Cosmic’s Coffee Bar, Cahoots Coffee Bar, and the always-reliable Starbucks. The more raucous of the two independent coffee shops, Cosmic’s Coffee has intergalactic pool, pinball and Peace Coffee, while Cahoots is a bit more laidback, with Middle-Eastern décor and Turkish coffee and lattes. For a mid-shopping snack, there’s O’Gara’s Bar, which serves up Irish bar food, and the bakery Two Smart Cookies, specializing in organic cookies and bars.
