Code Green contest merges eco-friendliness with technology

by on Jun.16, 2011, under Off the Beaten Path

St. Paul’s going green this summer! Today marked the kickoff of Visit St. Paul’s summer tourism promotion: Code Green. Focused on the concept of green living, sustainability, and culture in our capital city, Code Green will merge the eco-friendly with the high-tech (and toss in a bevy of super cool prizes along the way).

Here’s how it works:

Beginning June 18th, the Code Green website will feature a map with participating locations around the city. Users can go to each of said locations (once per day) and scan the displayed QR code with their smartphone. Upon scanning, they will be presented with a micro-website that gives the user a branded experience based on the specific location, including eco-friendly facts, initiatives, and touristy tips. The user is also presented with a chance to win the various “green” prizes that are being given away. The grand prize? None other than a Chevrolet Volt!

Code Green runs from Saturday, June 18 through October 1, so take some time this summer to explore and celebrate the city, learn a little about living green, and maybe even snag a prize. It’s a win-win-win!

Most people want to be eco-friendly but for the most part at least currently sometimes going green technlogoy is not financially a good idea currently.I have looked at eco-friendlyand green technology alternatives like igo green charger and have adapted where it makes financial sense. So far I have also installed solar panels on my home but while looking for a electric car I find the cost doesnt justify it for me. While I am passionate about making green choices and opting for green technology whenever possible it is up to people like you and I to spread awareness and let the companies know there is a demand. Your website looks popular and I think you can help influence society with your insight and green technology tips. By the way I found your site by searching ” Code Green contest merges eco-friendliness with technology | The651.com ” and you were the first result. So I think your website is a perfect platform to discuss ideas that are thought provoking to help influence your readers to go green. – Good luck with your site, you deserve all the success! Please continue to talk about more eco-tips/green tech, every idea helps us get closer day by day!
