Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘The Nightingale’
For years, SteppingStone Theatre has been a wonderful source for children to explore their theatrical sides!
Through educational programs and beautifully produced stagings of both original and classic material, this whimsical theater company nurtures the creativity of young Twin Cities thespians of all stripes. SteppingStone’s current production of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Nightingale brings to life the classic fairytale of a fickle Emperor who replaces his real, live feathered friend with a mechanical songbird, much to the real bird’s dismay. When the Emperor falls ill, however, only the real thing can cheering him up.

Circus Juventas presents Yulong: The Jade Dragon
Circus Juventas is the Twin Cities answer to Cirque Du Soliel, kid-style. Not only does CJ put on fantastic
performances featuring intermediate and advanced youth performers throughout the year, but their educational programs are designed to introduce circus arts to kids from the age of two on up through their late teens. Cool, eh? No need to run away to join the circus! Their latest production, Yulong: The Jade Dragon, is the crown jewel of Circus Juventas 2009 performance schedule, featuring the company’s most advanced students. Yulong weaves the courageous tale of Hua Mulan, a young woman who disguises herself as a male warrior to take the place of her elderly father in the ranks. Using a highly visual combination of spectacular acrobatics, beautiful costuming, and dramatic storytelling, these astoundingly talented young performers will keep you on the edge of your seat.
