Beginning Thursday: Arts & Crafts at the Minnesota State Fair
What:
It’s that time of year again! The Minnesota State Fair is back and this time around the festival is about way more than fried junk food on-a-stick. This year, we’re all about the shopping! Lucky for us, there is a never-ending list of local artists, crafters, jewelers and more that are getting ready to set up their booths at the fair. For instance, local shop i like you will be flaunting their handmade gear at a booth, with offerings from screen-printer Adam Turman, sock monkey-inspired designer Rebecca Yaker, and of course, all the farming equipment you can handle. -Lauren Gantner (Pictured: i like you)
When: Thursday, August 26 through Monday, September 6.

Saturday: “Well Done” Closing Party + Burlesque Wallpaper Launch
What:
If you haven’t been to the Burlesque show over at St. Paul’s Nicademus Art & Framing, we implore you to get there in time for the closing party this Saturday. For one, there’s tons of cool art to check out if you missed the opening party. Two – and even more excitingly – they’re launching their new wallpaper, in packs of the 19″ x 19″ two-color prints. Though the bold, graphic wallpaper exists in only one print (for now), the paper is cleverly customizable. Designed by Burlesque’s Mike Davis, the simple screen-printed pattern can be repeated and rotated to create an endless array of patterns and shapes to hang on your wall. It’s a great way to cover your walls in Burlesque prints, in a perhaps more adult-like manner. If you miss out on the opening, you can still order the wallpaper online. -Jahna Peloquin
When: 7-10 p.m. Saturday, August 28.
Where: Nicademus Art & Framing, 225 N. Snelling Ave., St. Paul, 651-207-8322, www.nicademusart.com, www.burlesquedesign.com
