This week in St. Paul shopping and style, check out a lash bar event at A. Michele, the Midwest Vintage Clothing Show at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, and visit the Goldstein for their latest exhibitions, “Flights of Fancy: A History of Feathers in Fashion” and “Off the Top of My Head: Hat Habitats.”

Wednesday: A Lash Bar Party
What:
This Wednesday let the ladies of eclectic A. Michele pamper you with complimentary wine and faux eyelashes. At this lash bar event, attendees can schedule a quick appointment to get their lashes lengthened while browsing the latest A. Michele offerings. Friday: Bounce Bash
What:
Springboard for the Arts’ annual benefit for the Artists’ Access to Healthcare Program offers plenty of opportunities to help out a good cause – especially when it means scooping up some local art in the process. The visual art show and sale features artists from the Walker’s CSA (Community Supported Art) program, including Calpurnia Peach’s adorable screen-printed pillows made from their original, archival fabrics (think the infamous paper airplane print from Voltage 2008, or the adorable pigeon print from RetroRama of the same year), as well as goods from artists Amy Rice, Amber Jensen, Lacey Prpic hedtke and Maren Kloppman. Entertainment includes live performances by Springboard artists Guante, Nirmala and Shruthi Rajesekar, Greg Herriges and Brian Beatty, and delish food and drink. Friday & Saturday: Midwest Vintage Clothing Show
What:
What brings together vintage wears from as far as Spain and Japan as well as the best vintage vendors from the Midwest? This month’s Midwest Vintage Clothing, Jewelry & Textile Show and Sale, of course! Make your way over to the Fairgrounds (dressed in your best vintage, of course) for a titanic sale of some of the loveliest vintage appearing in one spot in the Twin Cities. Shoppers can expect tons of beautiful jewelry and clothing, from classy, wearable pieces to historic and glamorous gowns. Come Friday to catch the sales first for $7 (and $1 off if you dress in vintage) and enjoy classy cocktails as you browse, or stop in Saturday for just $5 to peep a vintage runway show in the afternoon and get the looks before they’re gone. -Lauren Gantner

Friday: Jewel Daze at Elinor

This month, textile show-shop Elinor is all about the bracelets, charms, earrings and necklaces. This Friday, the artist-run studio will be flaunting a showcase of jewels from freshwater pearls, glittery gems, and twisted metals, all hand-crafted and designed by the shop‘s roster of St. Paul artisans. “Flights of Fancy: A History of Feathers in Fashion”
What:
This Friday marks the opening of the Goldstein Museums newest exhibit: Flights of Fancy. With the help of the local Raptor Center and the Bell Museum, curators at the Goldstein have brought together a fluffy showcase of feathers and flair from fashion legends like Oscar de la Renta, Bob Mackie, Victor Costa and more. “Off the Top of My Head: Hat Habitats”
What:
We’ve always thought a hat finishes off any great ensemble, but it took awhile for the rest of the fashionable flock to catch on. Now, thanks to a resurgence in interest in mid-century fashion, hats are back in a big way. In a nod to the trend, the University of Minnesota’s Goldstein Museum of Design is opening up its vaults for this new exhibition in tribute to the hat. It features the hat-inspired works of artists Cynthia Rapacz and Ryan Haro in mediums from photography and design to fashion and architecture. -Jahna Peloquin
