THURSDAY: An Evening with Zandra Rhodes
Though not an official MNfashion Week event, it’s more than worth mentioning that British fashion icon Zandra Rhodes is making a local appearance as part of the events leading up to the Minnesota Opera’s production of “The Pearl Fishers” (opening Sept. 26 at the Ordway). Though she’s done everything from designing gowns for Princess Di and costumes for Freddie Mercury over the years, she’s perhaps most revered as a costume designer for theatrical productions, and the Minnesota Opera were able to snag her to design costumes for their latest production. Co-sponsored by Goldstein Museum of Design, Rhodes will speak on her past work and inspiration, and the process of creating the costumes for “The Pearl Fishers.” Her costumes for “Fishers” and her pieces from the Goldstein will also be in display. (6 p.m. $35. Ordway Center, 345 Washington St., St. Paul. 612-333-6669.)
