After two long years of vintage collecting, REfind Vintage is shutting down with a weekend long sale event on its restyled, repurposed vintage finds. This weekend, the W7 Collective Social returns to the historic Pilney Building with a new roster of designers and artisans, and the bi-annual St. Paul Art Crawl takes over the Lowertown Arts District with tons of studio openings and special events.

This weekend, the artist collective W7 are bringing together local fashion, independent art and design, and tons of other pretty things to kick off fall right. The historic Pilsney Building will serve as a gallery as well as a gathering space for tons of art enthusiasts this Friday through Saturday. Now is your chance to peruse collections from dapper gentleman-wear by Freedom From Doubt, to custom crocheted goodness from Attagirl by Kedrin, to cutesy totes and purses from Louise Bags and Totes. This Friday marks the opening of the Goldstein Museums newest exhibit: Flights of Fancy. With the help of the local Raptor Center and the Bell Museum, curators at the Goldstein have brought together a fluffy showcase of feathers and flair from fashion legends like Oscar de la Renta, Bob Mackie, Victor Costa and more. This exhibit will dive into the feathery styles of western culture, starting from feathers in nature to the appeal of feathers on clothing. We’ve always thought a hat finishes off any great ensemble, but it took awhile for the rest of the fashionable flock to catch on. Now, thanks to a resurgence in interest in mid-century fashion, hats are back in a big way. In a nod to the trend, the University of Minnesota’s Goldstein Museum of Design is opening up its vaults for this new exhibition in tribute to the hat. It features the hat-inspired works of artists Cynthia Rapacz and Ryan Haro in mediums from photography and design to fashion and architecture. -Jahna Peloquin

Thursday-Saturday: w7 Collective presents “Winging It”
What: Local artist collective and curated event w7 is hosting its monthly three-day affair complete with the usual high-style design, art, fashion and bath items by local artists, artisans and designers. The May gallery social features the latest artwork collection, “SOAR,” by St. Paul artist Susan Hartzell Vannelli of the Dancing Paintbrush. Also debuting will be new knit accessories by Attagirl by Kedrin and Infrared Studio will be debuting her horn and resin jewelry along with new acrylic and stainless steel laser cut designs. Other artists and designers represented include Third Willow handbags, Gomez Whitney shelves and desks, STELLA + HODGE, Carrie Cordelia handbags, Vandalia Street Press and more. What:
Some of the Twin Cities’ top record collectors are once again gracing the Twin Cities with their collections. The former proprietor of Let It Be Records is among those offering rare vinyl, joined by GoJohnnyGo and Riffs-Ahoy. This time around, they’ve added a large amount of new stock, as well as enlisted local DJs (including Transmission’s Jake Rudh) to entertain you while you shop. Get there early, as these sales are always popular and packed with great stuff – think out-of-print indie, new wave, post-punk, garage, psych, prog, soul, R&B, old-school country, jazz, avant-garde and experimental – plus posters, books, videos and some CDs.

Sunday: Euphoria Salon Cut-a-Thon
What:
Your haircut can do some good for others during this Sunday’s Cut-a-Thon at St. Paul’s Euophia Salon. Cuts are $40, and 100 percent of the proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Awareness Association of Minnesota. Euphoria is culling stylists from other salons such as Accolades, Moxie, Salon George, Root and Cole’s for the event, which will also feature DJs spinning in the parking lot, complimentary apps from Punch Pizza, Highland Grill, and Cossetta’s, and gift bags. Guide to MNfashion Week in the651: Apr 19-25

MNfashion Week is one of our favorite times of the year. When else can you have so many stylish events packed in a one-week period? Of course, this spring it’s more like MNfashion Month, with fashion shows and events happening throughout the month of April. There’s so much going on, we can understand if you feel overwhelmed – so to help you out, we’re highlighting the must-be-at events in St. Paul, as well as offering a comprehensive listing of the rest.

WEEK OF APRIL 19-25:

Christopher Straub Premier Collection (Official MNfashion Week event)
What: Former Project Runway contestant Christopher Straub has kept himself very busy since appearing on the sixth season (and coming in fourth) of the reality show. He opened an e-shop, announced an accessories line for ShopNBC, created a dress out of packaging from the Project Runway Wii game, and will be participating in Voltage as a handbag designer for PFT Couture and Emma Berg’s lines. This spring, he’s showcasing his very first full men’s and women’s clothing collections (accompanied by accessories, of course). Tickets are $15 to $50 and available online at www.vitalculture.com. Saturday: A Man’s Show (Official MNfashion Week event)
What: Guys don’t ever seem to get as much attention as the ladies in the fashion scene. Fellas, feel neglected no more. This runway show will feature sartorial options from VState, Elsworth, Details Style Lab, and eyewear from the Spectacle Shoppe. Live music from the School of Rock’s student band Road Crew will provide a rockin’ accompaniment to the runway show, which includes an all-underwear segment. You can buy a retail discount ($10 for 10 percent up to $30 for 30 percent) for any of the retailers involved for a $5 donation, with proceeds going to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Twin Cities. Thursday-Tuesday: “The Office on Film” (Official MNfashion Week event)
What: Presented in conjuction with the Goldstein’s current exhibition, “How Secretaries Changed the 20th Century Office: Design, Image, and Culture,” this film series highlights secretaries’ role in the working world over the years. Tuesday evening, the series kicks off with Skyscraper Souls, set during the market crash in the 1930s as romantic and financial entanglements provide the backdrop to costumes that range from day to evening. On Wednesday, Joan Crawford stars as a tough lady-boss in 1950s-era The Best of Everything. The series finishes off with over-the-top big-hair ‘80s classic Nine to Five – that’s right, the one starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. Free.
